Membership facts and figures

Membership Secretary Report
The attraction of the Society to local residents is still very buoyant and although our numbers are slightly down on 2011 there are a continuing number of  applications for membership. At this present moment the Society is able to offer membership for 2012 but I feel that this will not be the position for long.

Members can bring a guest to our meetings if they contact Martin Kent or any other committee member and for this there will be a charge payable of £5. Preference however will be given to people on the waiting list. Guests and visitors are restricted to a maximum of 3 lectures a year.

If you know in advance that you will be unable to attend a particular meeting we will be able to offer your seat to a guest or visitor if you let Martin Kent or a committee member know a few days in advance.

From the Treasurer

We have built up the reserves to the level recommended by NADFAS.

The capitation fee for 2010 required by NADFAS has been increased from £10.50 to £10.90 per member and as a result we have raised the subscription to £35.00. Payment is required well before the start of the year, as we have to pay NADFAS their fees before the end of the current year, and the hall hire has to be paid in advance. We also have a number of capital expenses to be paid during 2010.
