Lecturer: Jan Jefferson

Jan Jefferson, born in Pennsylvania, home of the Amish peoplejj for many decades, was educated in the USA and, upon graduation, moved to the UK and continued post graduate research at Oxford University and a Research Fellowship in International Relations at the University of Birmingham.
Jan has travelled extensively and researched Social Anthropology whilst living in the Solomon Islands. Since l988, Jan has become a renowned authority on the Amish and their way of life. She has led tours to the Amish country, broadcast on numerous radio and television programmes in the UK and USA, written innumerable articles for many needlework and interior design magazines, written books, presented workshops and lectures worldwide, introducing people to the wonderful quilts, traditionally and famously made over centuries by the Amish communities.
